(This was posted in 2007. Temporarily removing it and putting it back shouldn't change it to today's date, but oh well.)
Last night, after posting my first entry to this blog (which I intended to use to reincarnate my old newsletter from 1996 called Wolfe Bytes, but instead made a posting in the hope of some day finding my brothers) I found my mom.
Her name was Sharon Carter. Known locally to the people of Cascade Locks, Oregon as Shari Sue Carter.
She died on October 23rd, 2004 in the Providence Hood River Memorial Hospital.
R.I.P., Mom. I'm sorry I found you too late.
Thanks to my mom's obituary, I found out that my half-sister was born as Gypsie Deana, and I have a few other siblings, although they are probably half/step siblings.
Misty Hamilton, if you ever search for info on yourself or on your relatives, maybe you'll find this page and contact me. I'd love to learn anything about my mom. I found you from the birth announcement of Jillyann Jade Daniels where you listed Sharon and John Carter of Cascade Locks, Oregon as Jillyann's maternal grandparents.
Since the obituary that I found is not currently online (but was found in Google's cache - Thank You, Google!) I'm reposting it here to facilitate anyone searching for any of the names listed in it.
30 October 2004 Hood River News
Sharon Carter - Cascade Locks resident Shari Sue Carter passed away Oct. 23, 2004, at Providence Hood River Memorial Hospital. She was 57 years old. A Memorial Service was held Thursday, Oct. 28, at the Cascade Locks Community Church. Shari was born July 9, 1947, in Anaheim, Calif. In 1980 she ventured to Bend, Ore., and lived there for five years. She moved to Lincoln City, Ore., in 1985 and met her future husband in 1992. Shari and John were married in 1994 and settled in Cascade Locks. She had great joy the last three years of her life, enjoying time spent with her grandchildren. She also spent time tending to her beloved garden. Shari loved birds, especially hummingbirds, and had many feeders in her yard. Shari was active in the community with the food bank. She loved helping people. She kept busy playing cards, reading, dice, camping, hiking and fishing. Waterfalls were her favorite, as John and her explored many of the falls in their area. Shari is survived by her husband, John Carter, of Cascade Locks; children Gypsie Deana, James Allen Morford, David and Dan Vrana (twins), Robert and David Buzick, Dixie, Misty and Cody Hamilton, grandchildren Jordan David Royce, Elizabeth Marie Hamilton, Jillyann Jade Daniels, Aaron Michael Vrana, Nicholas Ryan, Joshua Daniel and Matthew James. Arrangements by Anderson’s Tribute Center, 1401 Belmont, Hood River, OR 97031.
Why so young? What did you die of? How did my father, James Morford die in 1979 at an even younger age? Am I genetically predisposed to die at a young age since both of you died so young?
So many things I wish I knew.
For now, I hope someone I'm related to will find me since I searched for hours last night looking for many of you named above with no luck. My next step is to contact someone at the Cascade Locks foodbank where Sharon seems to have worked as a volunteer. Surely they can give John Carter my contact info and he or someone else can contact me and let me learn a little about my mother aside from her name.
Again, this isn't what I intended this blog to be for, but I will post an update if I make contact with someone from Cascade Locks, or anyone else nearby like Misty Hamilton.

P.S. The title of this entry is from a largely unknown John Lennon song on the Plastic Ono Band album. It's not even a whole song. It sounds like John sitting alone in a small room with an old-fashioned cassette player. He sings something like:
My Mummy's dead
I can't explain
Though it's been so many years
My Mummy's dead
Can't get it through my head
That's how I felt last night when I found my mom's obituary. After searching for her for over 15 years, I found her - dead.
